Staying Current on Government Affairs
In his Journal column, Stephen Burt, MFA, BS, AOHP Government Affairs Committee Chair, provides analysis of recent government affairs activities. For this issue, he examines OSHA’s new rule that eliminates the requirement that larger employers electronically file information on work-related injuries and illnesses. He also discusses OSHA’s justification for this reversal and actions still required under the rule.

Association Community Liaison Report
This regular Journal article details how AOHP is gaining visibility as an expert regarding occupational health issues. In this edition, author Bobbi Jo Hurst, BSN, RN, MBA, COHN-S, SGE, provides an update of the NIOSH Total Worker Health initiative, OSHA’s efforts to ensure safe work environments for workers, and NORA’s 17 safety objectives for the Healthcare and Social Assistance Sector, to which AOHP provided comments.

EXPO-S.T.O.P. 2016 and 2017 Report
Since 2011, the annual Exposure Survey of Trends in Occupational Practice (EXPO-S.T.O.P.), conducted on behalf of AOHP, has served as a national overview of exposure incidence and supplements the detailed surveys of the International Safety Center (EPINet) and Massachusetts Sharps Injury Surveillance System (MSISS). The latest report for AOHP members and EXPO-S.T.O.P. participants, authored by Terry Grimmond, BAgrSc, GrDpAdEd&Tr and Linda Good, PhD, RN, COHN-S, presents in this issue of the Journal the results of the EXPO-S.T.O.P. 2016 and 2017 surveys (6th and 7th).
