AOHP Opportunities for Members
Opportunities to Grow, Learn, Contribute, Network and Build on the Strong Foundation of Your Daily Employee Occupational Health Practice
AOHP has several opportunities for members to become more involved in your professional organization at the National level but who are not quite ready to seek national office. AOHP offers and encourages you to join as a member of one of our national committees. We have provided below a brief overview of the National Committees. Additional detail on each committee will be provided in future AOHP Journal issues.
Conference Committee
Conference Committee works closely with the Conference Chair and AOHP Headquarters staff to identify speakers and vendors, plan education content and provide onsite support at the conference. The Committee meets by email communciation or teleconference during the planning months before the conference and assists with speaker introductions at conference. Joining this committee is a great way to contribute to the success of the National conference by selecting current topics of interest to the membership. This committee also gives members the chance to work with a dynamic team to not just provide education, but a fun and attendee friendly packed event.

Continuing Education Committee
Continuing Education Committee assists member/chapters to complete CE Applications; Once completed application review is done electronically. Joining this committee is a great way promote robust, suitable educational opportunities for our members.

Government Affairs Committee
Government Affairs Committee monitors and responds to legislation and regulations which impact the practice of occupational health in healthcare. Information is then disseminated via AOHP chapter presidents and chapter Government Affairs Committee members. The Committee also formulates position papers and platforms on related issues. Joining this committee is a great way to stay up to date on the constant government policy changes affecting occupational health.

Research Committee
Research Committee provides guidance for members, non-members, and partners who desire to conduct research, including surveys, with AOHP or its membership.
Goals:
• Define research priorities based on public policy issues
• Develop tools and a support structure to demonstrate the value of research with members.
Joining this committee is a great way to be on the cutting edge of change in AOHP.

Strategic Initiatives Committee
Strategic Initiatives Committee is responsible for guiding the implementation of AOHP’s strategic plan. Initiatives include increasing membership, volunteerism in AOHP activities, growing local AOHP leaders and marketing AOHP membership value and benefits to current and potential members on local, national and international levels. Joining this committee is a great way to share your ideas and help plan the future of AOHP.

Professional Development Committee
Professional Development Committee is responsible for AOHP’s education program includes webinars, podcasts, and any other appropriate medium for professional development opportunities for the AOHP membership. It provides support and serves as a resource to Regional Directors and chapter officers for the region and chapter educational events. Joining this committee is a great way to influence what topics, presentations and speakers AOHP selects for our educational programs.
