Job Title: Manager, Occupational Health

Job Summary:

 

The Workers’ Compensation Manager organizes, directs and maintains the operations and procedures of the Sentara Healthcare workers’ compensation program in a way that contributes to meeting the mission and goals of Sentara Healthcare, and conforming to the requirements of regulatory agencies and other applicable federal and state statutes. In addition, the Workers1Compensation Manager is responsible for preparing the annual budget for this department and monitoring expenditures.

 

Interface with Third Party Administrator, attorneys, physicians, third party vendors, actuarial team, Sentara finance department, insurance broker and workers’ compensation excess insurance carrier for the purpose of maintaining, monitoring and measuring the appropriate business model to insure a successful self-insured program. Prepare and distribute appropriate injury research, statistical and financial analysis to various leadership teams across the entire Sentara system to identify injury trending. Diligently promote a safe workplace environment for employees. Monitor trends and innovations in the field of workers’ compensation administration and current legislative/regulatory issues.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

The Occupational Health Services Manager organizes, directs, and maintains the operations policies and procedures, and objectives of the Occupational Health Services units assigned and offers support services in a way that contributes to meeting the mission and goals of Sentara Healthcare, the requirements of regulatory agencies, and other applicable federal, state and local statues. In addition, the manager is responsible for various occupational health and risk management activities that include injury prevention, disease prevention, worker’s compensation claims management, and implementing protective equipment and appropriate engineering controls when applicable. Builds high performance Occupational Health and Workers Compensation teams and fosters relationships with other teams to achieve the goals and objectives of the division and the department.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education Level

Bachelor’s Level Degree – NURSING

 

 Experience

 

Required: Clinical Management – 5 years, Nursing – Occupational Health – 5 years, Nursing Management – 5 years, OSHA Regulations – 5 years, Worker’s Compensation Claims – 5 years

 

Preferred: None, unless noted in the “Other” section below

 

License

 

Required: Registered Nurse

Skills
